Itinerary

DAY 1

After breakfast at our guesthouse, meet your local guide at around 9:00 AM and begin your jungle adventure. Your journey starts with a scenic walk along the Bohorok River before passing through local rubber plantations on the way to Gunung Leuser National Park.

Once inside the rainforest, you’ll follow winding jungle trails in search of Sumatran orangutans and other native wildlife. Some orangutans in this area are accustomed to seeing visitors, offering a wonderful opportunity to observe their natural behavior from a respectful distance.

Take a break to enjoy fresh tropical fruits before continuing to a panoramic viewpoint overlooking the Bohorok River Valley, where the endless rainforest creates a truly breathtaking backdrop.

After lunch in the heart of the jungle, continue trekking deeper into the forest while looking out for Thomas Leaf Monkeys, Long-tailed Macaques, Pig-tailed Macaques, monitor lizards, and other fascinating wildlife.

By late afternoon, arrive at your riverside or waterfall campsite. Enjoy a warm drink, cool off with a swim, and relax while your guide prepares a freshly cooked dinner. As night falls, gather around the campfire, share stories, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere before settling into your tent for the night.

DAY 2

Wake up to the sounds of the rainforest and enjoy a homemade breakfast before setting off on another day of exploration.

Today’s trek takes you further into the untouched rainforest, offering even more opportunities to discover wildlife and experience the incredible diversity of Gunung Leuser National Park. Along the way, enjoy lunch surrounded by nature before continuing toward your next campsite.

After arriving, take time to relax, swim in the nearby river or waterfall, and simply enjoy the peaceful surroundings. As evening approaches, gather around the campfire for another home-cooked dinner while your guide shares stories about the rainforest and local wildlife.

Spend your second night camping beneath the jungle canopy.

DAY 3

After breakfast, enjoy your final morning in the rainforest. Depending on your interests and energy level, you can either relax around the campsite and visit a nearby waterfall or continue with an optional 3 to 4-hour jungle trek.

This final trek offers another chance to encounter some of the rainforest’s remarkable wildlife, including Sumatran orangutans, Thomas Leaf Monkeys, Silvered Leaf Monkeys, Long-tailed Macaques, Pig-tailed Macaques, Siamang Gibbons, and, with a bit of luck, even the elusive Slow Loris. Bird enthusiasts may also spot species such as the Great Argus or Hornbill.

After enjoying one last lunch in the rainforest, end your adventure with a traditional Jungle Taxi river tubing experience along the Bohorok River. Floating back to Bukit Lawang is the perfect way to finish your journey while taking in the beauty of the rainforest one final time.

Your guide will accompany you back to the guesthouse, bringing your unforgettable Sumatra adventure to a memorable close.
